Vik is an extraordinary winery in Chile’s Millahue Valley. Patrick Valette, a French winemaker whose family owned Château Pavie in Saint-Émilion, was tasked to find a site to make South America’s finest wines by Alexander Vik.
The result of Patrick’s work, with the vision and resources of Alexander Vik, has resulted in the creation of one of the most striking wineries in Chile.
It also makes first-class wines.
This is the entry-level brand. Consistently given high ratings by the critics, at under £20 per bottle, it is a great example of what modern winemaking techniques can create from Chile.

Majestic - £15.99 - mix of six
Rich, vibrant cassis on the nose, with smokey undertones. Warming texture of ripe blackcurrants aligned with smooth tannins on the palate. Medium length, soft, assuring and immensely drinkable. Would match a roast very, very well. It’s probably on most Majestic shelves, but could easily be ordered for a next day delivery.
If you are ever in Chile, then this winery worth a visit. As is the hotel. Not perhaps the least-expensive option, nevertheless it is a wondrous location and a very luxurious environment.
